Wanderlust: The desire for travel far away, and to many different places
It’s that time of year…. my office has been overtaken with presents and gift wrapping, an my time is spent between family and friends and frantic cookery. Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere wanders somewhere between fantasies of snowdrifts and carol singing and the sound of sprinklers, sizzling barbeques and the intense desire to live at the beach. It’s a tradition done wrong, but it all makes sense somehow. I hope that everyone gets to enjoy a special time with their loved ones, in whatever form it takes and has some well earned time away from the regular grind.
I will be choosing to spend some of my time with my laptop and a head full of ideas, which in itself is relaxing for me. No pressure, no need to do anything but explore the topic at hand. Summer holidays always inspire me to want more…. summer holidays. I’d devote an extraordinary amount. of time pursuing the lengthy warm days, the smell of heat punished shrubbery and the ever present cicada hum if I could. This in essence, defines wanderlust, which is the topic for the Evocations challenge for January.
Travel can mean many things though, there are both inner and outer journeys, and some of the most magical words are shared only through books, movies and the idea that something fantastical, wonderful and worthy of wanderlust is out there still.
Good luck and happy holidays!
