Monthly challenge number 6???? That would mean I’m halfway there! Challenges often creep up on me, and the finish line seems impossibly far from me before I know it. It’s been an up and down road with this one, with some challenges more difficult than others, but overall, it definitely kept my fingers one the keyboard so far, and there’s nothing bad about that. At all.
In fact, now that the weather’s cooling off, it’s much more appealing to stay indoors, drink coffee and churn out words, lots of them. That’s not saying they’re great, or they form something I’ll be putting out into the world anytime soon, but at least it’s happening.
I’ve been toying with the idea of having a fast paced story, themed around adrenaline for a while now, and each month it comes around and there’s literally nothing in my head that screams action and heart pounding emotion. It’s often the case that forcing something results in no words at all, or something that’s entirely unsatisfactory, so I’m again shelving it until that story hits me with just the right blend.
Until then, I’ll be looking forward to being tails up writing a story around charisma, that certain undefinable something that draws people in droves, promising fulfilment, and that sense of wellbeing just to be around them. It’s a concept used well by a few and envied by most. I’m looking forward to seeing how far I can take it, and if there’s a charismatic character out there just waiting to spring to life. Until May, happy writing!
